For UK data protection purposes, we are generally the controller of the personal information we collect and use in connection with your use of Comedy HQ.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, please contact us using the email address above.

  • your chosen account preferences;
  • information associated with Google Sign-In if you choose to use it.

We use this information to create and maintain your Comedy HQ account and provide the service.

Comedy career information

Comedy HQ is designed to store information you choose to enter about your comedy career, including:

  • gigs and performances;
  • show names;
  • gig types;
  • dates and times;
  • venues and venue locations;
  • fees and earnings;
  • payment and invoice information;
  • contacts and bookers;
  • comedy material, jokes, ideas and sets;
  • content and social media information;
  • career goals;
  • notes and other information you choose to enter into the service.

This information is used to provide the Comedy HQ features you request.

Information from connected services

You may choose to connect third-party services to Comedy HQ.

For example, if you connect Google Calendar, Comedy HQ may access information from your Google Calendar in order to provide calendar-related features that you request.

This may include:

  • the calendars available to your Google account;
  • calendar names and identifiers;
  • calendar events;
  • event dates and times;
  • event titles;
  • event locations;
  • event identifiers;
  • other calendar information necessary to perform the requested calendar functionality.

When you use the Google Calendar history import feature, Comedy HQ may temporarily access calendar event information to identify events that may represent comedy gigs.

Calendar event descriptions may be examined temporarily during the import process for classification purposes, but they are not stored as part of the imported gig unless the information is separately included in a field that you choose to save.

Comedy HQ does not use your Google Calendar information for advertising or unrelated purposes.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use personal information to:

  • provide and operate Comedy HQ;
  • create and maintain your account;
  • authenticate you;
  • store and display the information you enter;
  • organise and analyse your comedy career information;
  • provide gig, venue, money, material, contacts, goals and other features;
  • synchronise information with connected services when you request it;

  • prevent duplicate or erroneous records;
  • maintain and improve the reliability and security of the service;
  • communicate with you about your account and the service;
  • provide customer support;
  • process payments where applicable;
  • comply with legal obligations;
  • detect, investigate and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use Google user data for advertising.

4. GOOGLE USER DATA

If you choose to connect a Google account or Google Calendar to Comedy HQ, Google may provide us with information in accordance with the permissions you grant.

We use Google user data only to provide the Google-related features that you request.

For example, Google Calendar data may be used to:

  • allow you to connect a Google Calendar to Comedy HQ;
  • synchronise Comedy HQ gigs with Google Calendar where you have enabled calendar synchronisation;
  • identify and manage calendar events created by Comedy HQ;
  • import historical calendar events into Comedy HQ when you explicitly request a calendar history import;
  • identify possible duplicate gigs;
  • allow you to review and select events before they are imported.

Google Calendar information obtained through the Google APIs is not sold, used for advertising, or used for unrelated purposes.

We do not use Google user data to determine advertising profiles or for targeted advertising.

We do not disclose Google Calendar content to other Comedy HQ users unless you explicitly choose to make information available through a feature of Comedy HQ.

Google user data is handled in accordance with applicable Google API requirements, including the Google API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.

Where Google data is processed by service providers acting on our behalf, those providers may only process it as necessary to provide, secure or operate the relevant service.

5. GOOGLE CALENDAR SYNCHRONISATION

If you enable Google Calendar synchronisation, Comedy HQ may create, update or remove calendar events that it created on your behalf.

Comedy HQ does not take control of your entire Google Calendar.

For historical calendar imports, Comedy HQ provides a separate one-off import workflow. Imported gigs are not automatically pushed back to Google Calendar by that import process.

You can disconnect your Google Calendar connection through the available Comedy HQ controls. Where applicable, you can also revoke Comedy HQ’s access through your Google account settings.

7. INFORMATION YOU CHOOSE TO ENTER

Comedy HQ is a professional organisation tool, and you control much of the information stored in your account.

You should therefore avoid entering information that is unnecessary for the operation of your account.

You remain responsible for ensuring that information you enter into Comedy HQ is lawful and that you have the appropriate rights to provide it.

8. VENUE DIRECTORY INFORMATION

Comedy HQ may contain shared venue directory information.

Some venue information may be available to other Comedy HQ users where it forms part of the shared Comedy HQ venue directory.

This may include information such as:

  • venue name;
  • venue address;
  • city;
  • postcode;
  • country;
  • website;
  • venue type;
  • location information.

Your private venue information is separate from shared directory information.

Information such as your personal venue notes, fees, booker relationships and other private career information is not made public merely because you link a private venue to a shared directory venue.

9. WHO WE SHARE INFORMATION WITH

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate Comedy HQ.

These may include providers of:

  • hosting and database infrastructure;
  • authentication;
  • cloud storage;
  • payment processing;
  • email and communications;
  • security and monitoring;
  • third-party integrations.

Where we use service providers, we require them to process personal information only as necessary to provide their services to us and subject to appropriate contractual and security protections.

We may also disclose information:

  • where required by law;
  • where necessary to comply with a legal process;
  • to protect the rights, safety or property of Comedy HQ, our users or others;
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of all or part of our business.

We do not sell your personal information.

10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Some of our service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally, we will use appropriate legal safeguards where required by applicable data protection law.

These safeguards may include adequacy regulations or appropriate contractual protections.

11. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Comedy HQ and fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Generally:

  • account information is retained while your account remains active;
  • information you enter into Comedy HQ is retained while it is part of your account, unless you delete it;
  • information associated with connected services is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the relevant integration or feature;
  • Google Calendar data used for historical scanning is processed transiently where possible and is not retained merely because it was scanned;
  • certain information may be retained after account closure where necessary to comply with legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution obligations.

When information is no longer required, we will delete it or anonymise it where reasonably practicable.

12. SECURITY

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

These measures include appropriate access controls, authentication mechanisms and security controls around our application infrastructure.

However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and should notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.

13. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights including:

  • the right to access your personal information;
  • the right to correct inaccurate information;
  • the right to request deletion;
  • the right to restrict processing;
  • the right to object to certain processing;
